In 2025, Cox Fence completed a custom vinyl pool fence installation in Simsbury, Connecticut, designed to complement an extensive backyard renovation featuring a new pool, stone patio, retaining walls, landscaping, and outdoor pavilion. One of the biggest challenges of this project was integrating the fence into the property’s multiple elevations, stone retaining walls, and changing grades while maintaining a consistent, finished appearance throughout the entire pool enclosure.
Complex Installation
A significant portion of the fence needed to be installed directly on top of the stone retaining walls. Instead of using conventional surface-mounted vinyl posts, we developed a stronger custom installation method. Steel pipe was core drilled and anchored directly into the retaining wall, and the vinyl fence posts were then sleeved over the steel pipe. This provided the structural strength of a steel-supported installation while keeping all of the structural components concealed inside the finished vinyl posts.
Tackling the Grade Challenge
The project also required the fence to transition through significant elevation changes. Individual sections were carefully laid out and stepped to follow the contours of the property while maintaining the distinctive scalloped profile of the fence. Custom gates and transitions were incorporated throughout the enclosure to provide access without interrupting the overall design.
The result is a pool enclosure that feels like it was designed as part of the property rather than added afterward. The white vinyl provides a clean contrast against the natural stonework and wooded surroundings, while the custom installation methods allowed us to achieve the appearance the homeowner wanted without sacrificing strength or durability.
